They approached the little house.   It was built of gingerbread and covered with cakes and candies..  

The windows were made of clear sugar!  The children cried, "A house made out of cake!"

They were so hungry.  They could not stop themselves.  The children both ran up to the house.

Hansel reached up broke off a little of the roof.  Gretel nibbled at the window panes.
