Jobs --

Bibli's Bookshelf is still mostly a labor of love. But every summer we hire several college students or other budding artists to illustrate more stories for our library. Our summer internships are based in Philadelphia, but we have hired folks who live elsewhere the rest of the year. If you are interested, email us at info@simtalk.com.

Bibli's beginnings --

Bibli's Bookshelf began out of research on the best ways to teach people how to use the Point-and-Read screen-reader. The original handful of stories were created in 2002 and 2003 so people could practice reading using the Point-and-Read screen-reader. You can read more about that research below.

The first coding and original illustrations were done by Ben Slotznick. The first summer interns (2003) were Julie Huang, Soowhan Lah, Aya Osuga, and Jill Sison -- most housed that summer by Jim Conroy and his wife, Irene. Over the next six months, Bibli's Bookshelf was created to host the growing collection of illustrated books. Ben Slotznick came up with the original concept of the Bibli character, but the original drawings of Bibli were done by Jill Sison.

Point-and-Read, Inc. has continued to help increase Bibli's library of books. For more information on Point-and-Read, click here. You can get a free version of the Point-and-Read screen-reader from the download link is on Bibli's front page.
